Glossary
Japanese version
This is a collection of terms related to the MAYZ Toolkit.
- maximum entropy (ME) model
- A probabilistic model. For details, see Amis Home Page.
- derivation (specific usage in MAYZ)
- A tree structure representing a syntactic structure conforming
to the target grammar theory. In addition to phrase information, it
includes information about applied schemas. For example, in HPSG,
it corresponds to a sign includes daughter structures, and in CCG,
it corresponds to a derivation tree. In LTAG, it corresponds to a
derived tree annotated with substitution/adjunction labels.
- derivbank (specific to MAYZ)
- A collection of derivations. In MAYZ,
it is created semi-automatically by converting a treebank.
- lexbank (specific to MAYZ)
- A collection of terminals of derivations. It can be used to collect
lexical information.
- treebank
- A collection of sentences annotated with CFG-style phrase
structures. Various treebanks, e.g. Penn Treebank, have been
produced. The aim of the development with the MAYZ toolkit is to
make a derivbank from a treebank.
- parse tree (specific usage in MAYZ)
- In the MAYZ toolkit, trees in an input treebank are called "parse tree". Pharse structures in the target
grammar theory are called "derivation".
